AIM BarleyLife vs AIM Barley Greens
AIM's previous barley juice powder used the same technology that it started with over 20 years ago. AIM's barley juice powder was diminishing in quality while its cost was increasing. AIM logged many customer complaints and soon realized that a better barley juice product was critical to barley juice users and to AIM. So AIM set out on a 4-year journey to produce and exceedingly better barley juice powder - AIM BarleyLife. AIM insisted on a number of factors for optimum quality and nutritional density. Only one cutting of the barley leaves per planting. Two or three cuttings are possible but each cutting reduces the nutritional density by about half. Although higher yields per crop are possible by letting the grass grow higher, AIM insists that the barley leaves be harvested at the jointing stage when the nutrients are their highest. Maltodextrin is critical to lock in freshness and provide adequate shelf life without product degradation. AIM chose to use a higher quality, low DE (dextrose equivalent), maltodextrin. Low DE maltodextrin does not convert to glucose quickly and is not as sweet as high DE maltodextrin. However low DE maltodextrin is better healthwise. AIM develped several new technologies to assure optimum quality. After 4 years of research and development by AIM, AIM BarleyLife was introduced in July of 2002 as a replacement for AIM's previous barley juice powder. Long time barley juice powder users are seeing dramatically better results with BarleyLife. It is denser nutritionally so folks can use less if desired and get better results and the cost is lower!
AIM's previous barley juice powder.
BarleyLife and Barleyg appear to be the same on
ingredient lists. However the barley juice in BarleyLife is dramatically
denser nutritionally, BarleyLife's kelp is whole and not ashed and it
contains less of a higher quality maltodextrin. Barleyg protein was
running at about 12.5%. BarleyLife is running 22-30%. BarleyLife's
Beta Carotene is around 27,400 and the Barleyg ( ) was running 5,450. Barleyg's
superoxide dismutase (SOD) was
running 270-350 with
the highest ever being 783.
BarleyLife averaged 1060U/g SOD in 2002 and 1382U/g in 2003 with
additional improvement in 2004! Accross
the board BarleyLife nutrients are denser and users are seeing better
results. This is expected because of AIM's
patent-pending cold concentration
filtration process and tremendous
focus on quality.

The antioxidant Lutonarin
(7-O-GIO) is 22 times higher in BarleyLife then what it has been in
Barleyg. When all the nutrients that are considered antioxidants
are comprehended the overall antioxidant potential of BarleyLife is
dramatically higher (11.9 times) as can
be seen with BarleyLife's ORAC number see

Why BarleyLife? BarleyLife is
a powder (also available in caplets), concentrated 30 times from organically
grown young barley leaves. These leaves are cut, juiced and spray dried in a
vacuum preserving it in its original state without damage to the
many nutrients. It is a whole food containing a natural balance of
vitamins, minerals, amino acids (protein),
phytochemicals(antioxidants etc.), enzymes, chlorophyll, with a neutral pH,
and everything else in the barley leaf that
man has not yet discovered.
Here are a list of reasons we believe BarleyLife is the absolute best
barley juice product available on the market today and will continue to be for
many years to come.
Looking for something Substantially Better?
- The barley leaves are grown using
organic methods and rigorous testing to assure the highest quality possible.
- BarleyLife's barley crops are staggered for a consistent processing
campaign in which each field is harvested when the
plants are bursting with nutrition before they enter the
reproductive cycle and use their nutrients to produce grain (lower quality
products wait until the leaves are much higher yielding more barley grass but
- BarleyLife's barley crops are cut only once,
allowing for optimum nutrient density (lower quality products utilize 2nd and
3rd cuttings saving money but reducing nutrient density) .
Harvesting is done only during the day when the
sun is shining on the plants because that is when the antioxidants are highest
in the leaves.
- BarleyLife barley leaves are harvested
and immediately , juiced and chilled
(while still in the field) using patent-pending technology,
capturing the maximum available nutrition,
rendering the enzymes dormant and preserving their precious nutrients
(no other company does this). Other
manufactures allow the harvested grass to sit for up to 24 hours before the
- BarleyLifes barley juice is powdered
at low temperatures using the most advanced and efficient methods
for ensuring maximum freshness and nutrition.
- AIM invested thousands
on the invention of patent-pending (as of 11-2002) antioxidant/enzyme tester
that allows real time analysis of BarleyLife while it is being processed. This
patent-pending tester allows continuous monitoring
and adjustment of every stage of the process. The collected data is
being used for constant improvement providing the highest quality barley juice
powder ever produced. Barley juice powder with maximum enzyme/antioxidant
potential. (No other company has this capability.)
- BarleyLife utilizes high quality (low DE) Maltodextrin to provide a
protective shield to lock in the fresh barley juice
nutrients, prevent oxidation, preserve the enzymes
and chlorophyll and extend shelf life. This shield is
naturally removed when BarleyLife is mixed in liquid or dissolves in the
mouth. Maltodextrin may also act as a carrier for some of the barley juice
nutrients providing even better assimilation in the body. (other barley
products use a less expensive, sweeter, higher DE maltodextrin
or none at all). Maltodextrin is
critical in its protection of chlorophyll. Without the protective maltodextrin
shield the chlorophyll in the barley juice would quickly denature producing
Pheophorbide (pheophorbide is chlorophyll that has lost its magnesium center
as well as a phytol group). High amounts of pheophorbide are toxic and are
found in barley powders not protected with maltodextrin. Some companies have
criticized the use of maltodextrin calling it a filler. So AIM produced some
BarleyLife without maltodextrin and performed a year of shelf test studies.
The results were that the degradation in nutrients were too
great (i.e. quality was reduced too much) to be considered a viable product.
- BarleyLife contains small amounts of whole kelp powder (not ashed kelp)
and brown rice (less than 5% total). Kelp is recommended by many as a daily
nutritional supplement and has numerous benefits. Kelp contains an abundance of essential nutrients. These nutrients
boost overall health and strengthen the Immune System. Studies have shown that
kelp contains antibacterial properties, has anti-tumor effects in lab animals,
is beneficial to the heart and is beneficial to the thyroid gland. Brown rice
is an excellent source of B-complex vitamins
(which include thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pyridoxine (B6),
folic acid (B9), cyanocobalamin (B12), pantothenic acid and biotin) and is
recognized world wide for its health benefits. Rice is also a gluten free
2004 investments in technology
resulted in more juice from the barley leaves and a denser/heavier powder.
This resulted in higher nutrient density, better mixing, an improved taste and
lower price per ounce. And because of this, less of the powder can be used to
achieve great results.
- It takes
about 15 pounds of barley grass to
produce one pound of highly concentrated BarleyLife powder.
There is simply no comparison between BarleyLife and milled green powder
